Job Summary
Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, the Assessment Coordinator is responsible for data gathering and maintenance related to program and course assessment for the purpose of institutional improvements in accordance with THECB mandates, as well as regional and national accrediting requirements. The Assessment Coordinator will also support instructional faculty, staff, and administration in the development of effective tools for the academic assessment of general education core objectives, as well as student learning outcomes at the course and program levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the Director of Curriculum and Assessment in providing direction and training to faculty, staff, and administrators on the design, implementation, and maintenance of assessment processes for course and program student learning outcomes and general education core objectives.
- Supports the Director of Curriculum and Assessment in the update and maintenance of program and course assessment plans.
- Assists the Director of Curriculum and Assessment with updates to program sheets and student learning outcomes and ensures they are posted to the website annually.
- Assists the Director of Curriculum and Assessment with gathering the data necessary to submit curricula changes to the THECB's database once changes are approved by the curriculum and instruction committee as well as appropriate administration.
- Supports faculty, staff, and administrators in gathering, formatting, and storing assessment data for program review and annual learning assessment reports.
- Coordinates workshops, seminars, and other activities on assessment for faculty and staff.
- Conducts focus groups with students, faculty, and staff to gain insight into practices that improve or impede students' mastery of student learning outcomes and core objectives.
- Coordinates the administration of various standardized national assessment instruments and ensures that reports and results are disseminated institution wide.
- Assists Vice President of Instruction with coordination and presentation of instructional data.

- Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines.
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College.
- Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.
- Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and community.
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
- Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
