Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Advanced Practice Nurse license with prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing or by Nurse Licensure Compact Administration. Must be in good standing with Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nursing or residency state for compact license.
- Board Certified in Family Practice
- DEA registration
- Experience documenting in electronic health records.
- Experience working in primary care setting or urgent care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate
- Experience using eClinical Works.
- Experience providing long-term contraception (LARC) devices.
- Experience providing Travel Health consultations
Job Description
Texas State University University Health Services is seeking a full-time Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for the ambulatory health care facility serving college students on the San Marcos Campus. This position may be offered as either a 9-month or 12-month appointment, based on departmental needs and the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Job Duties
Provide primary medical care to eligible students within the scope of family medicine and following the standard of care for an advanced practice nurse. Document patient encounters in an Electronic Health Record. Assign accurate Evaluation & Management (E&M) codes for patient visits to support the filing of health insurance claims. Consult with supervising physician when appropriate and make referrals to other health care providers as necessary.
