Position Description
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Student Services & Student Engagement and the Texas Tech HSC El Paso clinical administration, the University Health Services Physician plans, organizes, directs, and provides student health services programs, operations, and activities addressing students' physical needs. These include screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of health conditions, prevention programming, and health education.

Major/Essential Functions
In collaboration with the center staff, provides day-to-day oversight of the Health Center, including resolution of clinical and administrative issues, while collaborating and escalating as appropriate.
Provides supervision, support, and direction to the Student Health Services team; including clinical supervision for mid-level providers (APRNs or PAs) within the center.
Supports the management of processes that the center provides consultation for, including student health insurance, immunization exemptions, clinical verifications, and immunization compliance and tracking.
Working with the center staff organizes and plans annual immunization clinics and other programs.
Serves as a "super user" for Electronic Medical Records and ensures team members are trained in its use.
Review outstanding clinical documentation, referrals, pending results, and related follow-up items to ensure accuracy and completion.
Ensures follow-up and resolution of clinical concerns for selected patients, as needed.
Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing health care delivery and assures timely assessment and filing of all regulatory documents.
Provides direct primary patient care, urgent care, telemedicine, and health education to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso student population. Support all SSSE Events as requested by SSSE senior leadership to ensure adequate support for all students.
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures, and processes.
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Due to the broad nature of work found in this job, minimum qualifications for a particular job will be determined by the hiring manager. The qualifications will be commensurate with level and nature of work to be performed.
Licensure/certification
Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas - Board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, or the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
If within two years of residency graduation, must be actively pursuing board certification within their specialty and will obtain and maintain board certification within one year from the date of hire with TTUHSCEP.
Preferred Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree preferred.
Experience teaching Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows or previous experience in a primary care setting preferred.
Familiarization with electronic health record system preferred.
Able to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, exhibit appropriate sensitivity to others, and interface effectively with students, University staff and physicians, and University administrators.
