Job Description: We expect our counselors to…
- Be a positive role model to groups of campers of different ages
- Make a fool of themself for the sake of making a kid smile
- Observe camper behavior, and assess its appropriateness, enforcing the necessary behavior-management techniques, safety policies, and emergency procedures
- Communicate actively with parents of campers during drop off and pick up
- Lead games and provide water sports instruction to campers of all skill levels
- Ensure the safety of campers in and around water, and respond to emergencies as needed while maintaining lifeguard duties
Summer Dates, Typical Week, & Compensation:
- We dedicate May 19th through May 25th for staff training. During this time you will learn our behavior-management techniques, safety policies, and emergency procedures. All while getting to know the team!
- Our summer season consists of 11 weeks of camps located on Lake LBJ. Additionally, private lessons run from May 27th through August 10th.
- A typical day runs from 8 am to 4 pm, though private lesson times may vary. The first and last 30 minutes of the day consist of trailering, cleaning, and fueling the boat. You can find our camp daily schedule below.
- A typical week will consist of a 30 to 40 hour work week. You will alternate with team members between weekends off vs weekdays off.

Counselor Qualifications: We would love for you to join our team if you…
- LOVE WORKING WITH CHILDREN and desire to positively influence their lives
- Possess excellent character, integrity, patience, and adaptability
- Exhibit enthusiasm and sense of humor
- Have experience driving boats and coaching water sports
- Are able to work in summer heat for several hours at a time
- Accept supervision and guidance
- Are Lifeguard, First aid, and CPR Certified (We can assist with training)
- Have completed high school or are over 18 years old
Typical day at Camp:
8:00am - Drop boat in lake. Prepare for campers.
8:45am - Camper drop off. Check in. Find your group. Sun Screen.
8:50am - Orientation. Daily riding lesson and water safety discussion. Land based training. Warm up and Stretching.
9:00am - Morning riding session on boats. In water practice of daily lessons. Swim and refreshment breaks.
12:00 - Lunch at Boat Town Burger Bar. Announcements. Group discussions. Sunscreen.
12:45pm - Afternoon riding session on boats. Free riding. Lake games or special activities. Swim and refreshment breaks.
3:45pm - Camper pick up. Clean & fuel boat.
4:00pm - Work day ends.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Contract
Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
