Job Title: Field Welder – Team Lead
Job Summary: As a Field Welder – Team Lead, you will be responsible for performing all welding, operational, and erection tasks at various job sites, primarily within a 300-mile radius of Waco, TX. Hotel arrangements for travel assignments are provided by the company.
Additionally, you will be overseeing and ensuring the quality and efficiency of welding tasks and providing leadership and guidance to a team of welders and laborers. You will play a key role in coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence in welding practices.
Responsibilities:
- Welding Leadership: Lead by example a team of welders, providing direction, instruction, and support to ensure that welding tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee welding processes to ensure that welded components meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify the integrity of welds.
- Workflow Coordination: Coordinate with your project manager, installation manager, and other team members to schedule welding activities, allocate resources, and prioritize tasks based on project requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and arranging for repairs or replacements as needed. Keep truck orderly and washed bi-weekly.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all welding operations comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Conduct safety briefings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Training and Development: Provide training, mentorship, and feedback to field welders and apprentices, assisting in their skill development and promoting continuous improvement in welding techniques and practices.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of welding activities, including work orders, shipping and receiving orders, inspection reports, and safety documentation. Ensure that all documentation is complete, up-to-date, and accessible as needed.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address any challenges or obstacles that arise during welding operations, working collaboratively with team members to implement effective solutions and minimize disruptions.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, your project manager and installation manager, providing clear and concise updates on project status, issues, and resolutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advances in welding technology, techniques, and equipment, and identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
Qualifications:
- Welding Certification: American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 SMAW is required.
Candidate will be administered test by Texas Welding Company in interview process.
- Experience: Proven experience in welding operations, with at least 5 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and guide a team towards common goals.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in various welding techniques, processes, and materials, with a solid understanding of welding blueprints and symbols, principles and best practices.
- Safety Awareness: Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to welding operations, with a commitment to ensuring a safe work environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with team member.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions, including lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and standing for extended periods.
