As a Commercial Loan Manager, you will be responsible for originating, managing, and supervising a portfolio of commercial loans. Your goal will be to maintain and improve asset quality while cultivating strong business relationships in our community. You will serve as a key ambassador for TCCU, promoting our products and services through outreach, business development, and civic involvement.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing lending and deposit business by building new relationships and expanding existing ones. You will interview applicants, analyze financial statements and tax documents, and make sound underwriting decisions. You will determine loan structure, terms, and pricing, and either approve loans within your authority or refer them to the Member Business Loan Committee. Additionally, you will ensure that all loan agreements are accurate and in accordance with credit union policy.
Ongoing portfolio management is essential in this role. You will monitor the health of existing loans, conduct annual reviews, identify risk areas, and document any exceptions or concerns. You will also play a key role in maintaining the Member Business Lending Policy, contributing to updates, and ensuring compliance. Support with loan collections, minimizing past dues, and helping to prevent charge-offs are also important aspects of the position.
The ideal candidate will have two to five years of experience in commercial lending or related products, with a solid understanding of business lending procedures and strong skills in cash flow analysis. PURPOSE
Originates, manages and supervises a portfolio of commercial loans, with the overall objective of maintaining and increasing the asset quality by developing new and existing business relationships. Maintains a good outside working relationship/image with community business owners and promotes TCCU’s products and services.
REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of two to five years of experience in commercial lending or commercial products; The ability to motivate senior personnel on matters relating to the Commercial Lending industry, requiring a significant level or expertise, credibility, influence, and trust; Flexible and professional when dealing with staff, management, and external business partners. Must have a thorough knowledge of Business Lending’s policies and procedures. Cash flow analysis experience required.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
1. Participates in developing lending and deposit business. Calls on clients to expand existing business, calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the credit union’s client base. Actively engages in business development and civic initiatives with contact throughout the community.
2. Interview loan applicants, gather required documents to fully underwrite and document credit requests. Reviews customer financial condition and assess the members’ ability to re-pay the loan. Makes underwriting decisions within approval authority or makes recommendations to management/Member Business Loan Committee. Completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loan.
3. Determines the structure of the loan, including pricing, terms and duration in accordance with the member relationship and credit union policies.
4. Approves loan within established limits or refers loan to the Member Business Loan Committee. Verifies loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy.
5. Reviews and monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base. Maintains up-to-date client files including current balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow projections and all loan documentation.
6. Analyze business financial statements and income tax statements to determine financial standing annually. Responsible for ongoing portfolio management or relationships including identification and documentation of problem loans, policy exceptions, grade changes, annual reviews, watchlist reviews and/or special reviews that may be required.
7. Will review and make recommendations for the Member Business Lending Policy annually.
8. Collection of past due loans. Maintains quality to minimize exception and to prevent past dues and charge offs.
9. Must comply with all credit union policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secretary Act, US Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Asset Control.
10. Answer incoming calls as needed by being logged into the call group.
11. Attend all mandatory staff and department meetings as scheduled.
12. Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Working Conditions: Must be able to perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise. Occasional outside work may be required.
