What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIRECTOR - INFECTION PREVENTION position at Texoma Medical Center?
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the assigned Management Council Member, this position is responsible to plan, organize, direct, and supervise departmental programs. Ensure service excellence development, staffing management and resource allocation and control are appropriate and in alignment. Assume direction of participation in special projects as needed. Coordinate hospital-wide compliance with state, federal regulations and the Joint Commission standards. Develop and implement facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors elative to antimicrobial stewardship, product evaluation, business planning, emergency management and development of surveillance and prevention systems for non-infectious events. Monitor patient care for compliance with established standards and investigates known or suspected sources of infections to determine the source and ensure control. Resolve escalated issues arising from operations in cooperation with applicable departments. Provide applicable reporting metrics relative to infection control and prevention. Identify, prevent and control outbreaks of communicable diseases. collect, analyze and interpret data related to infectious diseases and report when necessary to local, state and federal authorities, as well as to internal committees. Educate staff on infection control measures including infection control policies, procedures, following state and federal guidelines with regard to surveillance and reporting.
The basic purpose of nursing is to provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice.
Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. In addition, we have numerous facilities in locations throughout the Texoma region. Since 1965, TMC has forged a special relationship with the people of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Texoma residents have come to depend on TMC to meet a spectrum of physical, mental and spiritual needs. Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- Current Texas nursing license or compact license.
- Bachelor's degree required, BSN or MT. Master's Degree in related health sciences preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Nursing is required (with at least three (3) years of leadership positions in healthcare.
- Acute hospital experience strongly preferred. Management experience in a high volume, diverse health system strongly preferred.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control strongly preferred.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a wide variety of management and employees.
- Develop and present training material relative to infection prevention and emergency management.
- Consistently demonstrate Service Excellence.
- Self motivated, work independently and develop effective Infection Prevention team.
- Handle issues with professionalism, critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Handle high pressure with professionalism.
- Strong computer proficiency with various programs.
- Solid understanding of applicable federal, state regulations as well as The Joint Commission and CMS requirements.
- Excellent ability to prioritize and organize work.
- Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
- Must be able to identify and competently address needs of populations served.
