What you will be doing as a Skin Stretch Machine Operator:
You can expect to setup, adjust, and operate machinery to various aircraft skins. Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Operating and Program Development:
- Set up and adjust a tape-controlled stretching machine
- Physically load required contours to shape sheet metal parts into various forms
- Use DNC software to develop and adjust programming for machine operation sequences and speeds as needed
- Maintain program files and setup sheets for future production efficiency
- Consider the material characteristics being used along with the machine capacity
- Tool Use and Inspection:
- Utilize hand-forming tools (e.g. Dotcos, drills, sanders, shears, hammers)
- Operate power transportation and lifting equipment (e.g. overhead crane)
- Regularly inspect tools to prevent breakage during use
- High School education, GED, or a Bronze Level WorkKeys certification is required
- Minimum 1 year of stretching machine or related experience is required
- Ability to lift heavy materials and tools is helpful
- Comfortable using catwalks over heights ranging from 4-15 feet
