Textron Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Land Systems team at the Slidell, LA facility. In this role, you will experience the entire engineering lifecycle of military vehicles through design, build, and test support. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to design mechanical systems using 3D CAD, hands-on experience in a prototyping or production environment, a solid foundation in mechanical design principals, and a passion for automotive-related platforms. This position is open for a level I to II role so candidates with 0-5 years of experience are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components. The systems that you will work on may include chassis, powertrain, weapon integration, armor, seating, HVAC, auxiliary systems, special equipment, and/or Command, Control, Communication, and Computers (C4) equipment.
- Conduct performance analysis and simulation studies to optimize components for weight, cost, and schedule based on the required operating conditions and mission scenarios.
- Manage technical requirements and specifications to ensure compliance to customer requirements as well as industry, regulatory, and military standards.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to ensure compatibility, reliability, and performance across the vehicle platform.
- Release 3D CAD models and 2D drawings through configuration management based on military, industry, and internal standards.
- Provide technical and hands-on support to the manufacturing team during prototyping and production for the successful production, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 1-5 years of experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks (preferred), NX, CATIA, or Creo.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, etc. is preferred.
- Knowledge of military vehicle systems, components, and specifications (e.g., MIL-STD, NATO standards) is preferred.
- Automotive experience (work history, SAE clubs, or hobby) is preferred.
- Ability to work 40 hours/week (This position is on a 9/80 schedule)
- This position requires an individual to be a U.S citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
