What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shift Laser Operator position at TFC Inc.?
We are a mid-sized metal fabrication facility located in the Maumelle/North Little Rock area. We specialize in large quantity orders of fabricated sheet metal. We have laser, turret punch, press brake, welding, powder coating, and machine capabilities all in house. We primarily operate within the 1/4 inch - 22ga range of material, and produce products for a huge range of industries.
We have 3 fiber lasers, all with automation and tower systems, that we need operators for. We can work with the right candidate on shift preference in the future, but for now our need is for weeknight operators for our night shift, 4:00pm-2:30am, Monday-Thursday. There is ample opportunity for overtime, and this is one of the few positions in the business when it may often be expected/required, especially during busy times.
*IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: The night shift laser position is the onlynight shift position we have - meaning the operator will be working alone. There is only a 30 minute overlap in shifts where the rest of the business will be present. If you are not the type of person who is self motivated, enjoys working alone, and can be trusted to work alone, this is not the right position for you. We currently have a night shift operator that is moving in May for family reasons. The plan is to have the new hire come in during days from now until then to train on our machines and processes by experienced operators, then transition to nights closer to when the current operator is leaving. So for a couple months, the shift will be Monday-Thursday, 6am-4:30pm, then will transition to night shift 4pm-2:30am.
The duty of the laser operator is to keep the machines running as much as possible. This includes loading/unloading material and finished goods, selecting and running programs, trouble shooting the machines, communicating with other areas of the business, etc. This is a very dynamic position with no two days being exactly the same. The ideal candidate will thrive in this kind of environment, be mechanically inclined, be a team player, and above all, be dependable. This area of the business is where everything starts. If lasers are not running efficiently, it ripples throughout the entire business.
This role will evolve into an independent role rapidly, with training from current operators in the beginning.
This is a long term opportunity with potential for advancement and growth both within the first few months of employment and into the long term, including raises, bonuses, promotions, and inclusion in company decisions.
Shifts are as follows:
Day shift: 6:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday
Laser experience is preferred. Fiber laser is a plus.
Ability to operate a windows based computer required.
Forklift Experience required.
Automation experience preferred.
Fabrication experience preferred.
Turret Punch experience is a huge plus, NOT a requirement.
We do everything we can to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for our employees. However, this is not an air conditioned facility, and there is lifting/dirty work involved in the job.
Thank you!
