Job Summary:
The Assistant Accounting Manager & Controller is responsible for overseeing finance operations and business office activities for the organization. This role includes managing financial reporting, ensuring the integrity of accounting records, overseeing budgets and audits and payroll. The Controller will also lead a team of accounting professionals and work closely with senior management to support the company’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Payroll

Oversee payroll process for approximately 100 employees

Accounting Operations:

Oversee accounts payable and receivable departments, ensuring timely payment and accurate collections.

Manage the month-end and year-end close process.

Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
-
Provide detailed analysis of financial performance, highlighting key trends, variances, and potential areas of concern.

Present financial reports to the Finance Director, including insights and recommendations for improvement.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist in developing and managing budgets, as well as prepare financial forecasts.

Compliance & Audit:

Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.

Coordinate and manage external audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.

Prepare tax returns and ensure all corporate taxes are filed in a timely manner.

Team Leadership & Development:

Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to ensure professional growth and high-quality work.

Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Lead the process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes.

Financial Systems & Process Improvement:

Manage and improve financial systems and accounting software.

Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Proven experience (5 years) in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.

Proven experience with QuickBooks Online

Proven experience in Google Suite

Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Ability to travel up to 45 miles; this is not a requirement but preferred
Preferred Skills:
