Description
Mechanic I is responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of the area’s equipment, including compressors and motors. At times this can be a very physically demanding position. This position will work around and on rotating equipment and facilities with high pressure.
Responsibilities
- Independently diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently.
- Complete accurate and timely rebuilds/overhauls of compressors, engines and controls on gas compressor packages in the field in adverse conditions without supervision.
- Responsible for accurately completing basic engine tuning functions to adjust engine performance and emissions on multiple major OEM’s. (CAT/Waukesha)
- perform mechanical inspection using micrometers, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic equipment, and other specialty tools with little to no guidance.
- independently assist installation of new units including commissioning and start-up inspections without supervision accurately.
- Responsible for submitting accurate field service reports, expense reports, timesheets, and other necessary paperwork daily.
- Responsible for performance of the job activities in a manner consistent with the project goals and objectives.
- All duties and responsibilities could include travel at short notice including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must recognize and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies that are applicable to each location.
- Other Duties assigned by supervisor.

- Performs all duties required for which the employee is qualified and trained.
Requirements
- Must have applicable experience
- Experience with 3500/3600 CAT Ariel packages
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and some vocational/technical related experience preferred
- Possess knowledge and ability to diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently with limited guidance.
- Possess knowledge and ability to respond and repair recurring problems and emergency services as needed independently.
- Must be able to be on a call-out rotation and effectively make emergency repairs.
- Goal driven/forward thinking
- Competency with Microsoft Office programs
Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
- Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection
