Position Summary
The Construction Controller will lead accounting and administrative activities, focusing on managing day-to-day operations for a dynamic construction company. This role requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in the construction field and reports directly to the Construction Controller. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the company President, Estimators, Superintendents, Project Managers, and the Corporate Finance and Accounting team. This position offers an opportunity to drive financial excellence in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Manage and supervise the project accounting team to ensure efficient execution of tasks and responsibilities.
Project Accounting Oversight:
- Oversee all aspects of project accounting, including:
- Preparing and tracking monthly requisitions to project owners.
- Participating in project forecast updates (CTC/WIP) with Project Managers and Estimators.
- Monitoring and addressing over/under billings in collaboration with Project Managers and Estimators.
- Identifying and mitigating risks on high-risk projects by collaborating with project management.
Procurement and Payment Management:
- Oversee the procure-to-pay process, ensuring:
- Timely and accurate processing of invoices for weekly disbursement cycles.
- Subcontractor compliance with contract terms (insurance, lien releases, waivers, and billing procedures).
- Efficient management of subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
Financial Oversight:
- Monitor project cash positions and coordinate closely with project teams on financial matters.
- Manage regional cash collection activities and prepare cash forecasts.
- Prepare monthly P&L forecasts in collaboration with the Corporate Controller.
- Finalize monthly WIP reports and present results to management.
- Prepare and monitor SG&A forecasts to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Maintain and present backlog reports.
- Identify and manage capital expenditure (CapEx) requirements.
- Oversee accounting for warehouse, inventory, and equipment.
- Act as a liaison between Corporate Risk Management and project teams.
General Management:
- Manage all job cost accounting and cash flow activities.
- Serve as the financial management link between the division and Corporate Accounting.
- Participate in divisional, corporate, client, and project meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in standard accounting policies and procedures.
- Extensive experience with construction industry accounting rules and regulations, including:
- Job cost accounting.
- Work-in-Process (WIP) reporting.
Salary : $120,000 - $1,005,000
