About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join our team. The Referral Coordinator will be responsible for managing the referral process from start to finish, ensuring timely communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. This role will also support the clinical team by fostering meaningful relationships with patients and their families and caring for our patients in a hands-on and personalized way. Reporting to the Center Manager, this role offers the opportunity to take on more responsibility as we grow.
Location: Hudson, FL clinic
This position may require some local travel to assist in covering other centers.
Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm
Key Responsibilities
Referral Management:
- Manage the referral process by sending referrals to specialist clinics, ensuring all information is accurate and complete before submission.
- Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage, and act as the main point of contact for patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status and concerns.
- Schedule appointments, provide clear instructions to patients, and follow up with medical offices, insurance companies, and patients to ensure timely handling of referrals and record collection.
- Track referral progress, including approvals, denials, and appointments, and assist in coordinating medical records and documentation as needed.
Patient Care:
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists.
- Prepare patients for examination.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage patient records and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR system.
- Coordinate scheduling and follow-up appointments to optimize patient care.
- Respond to patient inquiries promptly and professionally, offering concierge-level support.
Clinical Support:
- Administer medications, injections, and other treatments as directed by the provider.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests and perform blood draws.
- Administer EKG's and PFT's.
Team Collaboration:
- Partner with providers and other staff to create seamless patient experiences.
- Contribute to care team discussions to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain a patient-centered mindset while upholding clinic standards of care.
About You
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience as a medical assistant, ideally in a primary care setting.
- 2 years handling referrals from primary care to specialist offices.
- Certification: Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with patients and team members.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and patient-focused with a genuine desire to improve senior citizens' health outcomes.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.

- English/Spanish language skills preferred.
