The Project Coordinator / Estimator for Steel Erection is responsible for overseeing the coordination, scheduling, and cost estimation for steel erection projects. This role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The individual will work closely with project managers, field teams, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee the day-to-day operations of steel erection projects from start to finish.
Collaborate with project managers to develop project timelines and schedules.Ensure proper communication between field teams, clients, and subcontractors.Monitor project progress and resolve any issues or delays that arise.Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations at all times.Maintain accurate project documentation, including permits, inspections, and progress reports.Estimating :Prepare accurate cost estimates for steel erection projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to determine the scope of work and material requirements.Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers.Develop detailed cost breakdowns and budgets for clients.Track costs throughout the project and provide regular updates to ensure that the project stays within budget.Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or safety.Procurement & Logistics :Coordinate the procurement of steel, equipment, and materials needed for the project.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid delays in construction.Work with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and ensure quality.Track inventory and manage the logistics of materials on the job site.Communication & Reporting :Serve as a key point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Prepare and present regular project updates to clients and stakeholders.Identify potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.Ensure compliance with industry standards and local regulations throughout the project.Post-Construction Support :Assist in the preparation of final project documentation.
Coordinate post-construction activities, including site cleanup and final inspections.Review and approve final invoices and payments to contractors and suppliers.Required Skills & Qualifications :
Education : Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).Experience : 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, estimating, or construction management, specifically in steel erection or similar fields.Technical Skills :Proficiency with construction management software
Strong knowledge of blueprints, construction documents, and estimation techniques.Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to steel erection.Project Management Skills : Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, teams, and stakeholders.Attention to Detail : Ability to spot potential issues early and take proactive steps to resolve them.Physical Demands :
Ability to visit job sites and inspect steel erection activities.Occasional site visits may require the ability to climb ladders or work in varied weather conditions.Work Environment :
Office environment with occasional site visits.The role may involve occasional extended hours or travel based on project requirements.
