SUMMARY
|
The Traveling Controls Commissioning Engineer II is a early to mid-level role within TGW’s Controls Commissioning Group. This position collaborates with other controls engineers to enhance the development, deployment, and commissioning of control software and hardware systems. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and field equipment across the entire project lifecycle—from design through production startup.

Key Responsibilities

Program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).

Commission hardware and software for material handling systems.

Perform and oversee electrical installations, verifications, and adjustments.

Make mechanical adjustments to installed systems and equipment as needed.

Support both new system implementations and retrofit projects.

Provide onsite and remote assistance for recently installed systems.

Create and maintain documentation for control system solutions.

Participate in and contribute to internal training and skills development programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
-
Several years of hands-on experience in an industrial setting, particularly in warehouse or material handling environments.

Proven experience with the full project lifecycle: design, debugging, commissioning, and cutover to production.

Experience working independently and collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams.
Travel:
Skills and Competencies

Proficiency in programming and debugging PLCs and HMIs.

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control hardware.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in fast-paced commissioning environments.

Solid understanding of mechanical adjustments related to automated equipment.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation.

Comfortable working in warehouse and industrial environments.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
- Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.

Other Requirements
