Named in honor of Louise Thaden, a pioneering aviator from Bentonville, Thaden School opened in the fall of 2017 with just 50 students in grades 7 and 9. With its well-resourced tuition assistance program, the school has grown steadily, and enrollment is expected to reach 275 students in the coming year. Designed by a world-class team of architects, the school's 30-acre campus downtown Bentonville will support as many as 550 students in grades 6-12.
The school now seeks a part-time substitute teacher who will remain on call to cover classes and perhaps other school activities in the event of faculty absences. Substitute teachers may be reached on short notice in the case of absence due to illness or in advance for a planned absence.
Role and Responsibilities
- Ensure that students are completing tasks assigned by the teacher
- Leave relevant notes on the day for the absent teacher
- Maintain student safety as a priority at all times
- Promote the school’s mission and guiding principles
- Follow and enforce school guidelines
- Clarify general times of availability
Qualifications
Skills, Qualifications and Attributes
The school seeks candidates of exceptional character, creativity, and intelligence who have the versatility to work with students in grades 6 to 12. Teaching experience in any following subjects is preferred: English, world languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Latin), history and social studies, biology, chemistry, mathematics, visual arts, and music (instrumental and/or choral).
