What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Accounting Assistant position at Thales Academy?
Thales Academy is looking for a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to join the Thales Management team, supporting our growing network of Thales Academy locations.
This position will be 20-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-12pm or 1pm, based at our Management building in Wake Forest, NC.
The mission of Thales Academy is to provide an excellent and affordable education for students in Pre-K to 12th grades through the use of Direct Instruction (K-5) and a Classical Curriculum (6-12) that embodies traditional values.

Job Description:
- Work with Heads of School to certify and endorse all recipients of the NC Opportunity Scholarship received from the NCSEAA for fall and spring semesters.
- Add scholarship funds to Blackbaud tuition accounts of recipients.
- Reconcile recipient tuition accounts to reports received from the NCSEAA.
- Assist accounting staff with communication to parents in regards to processes involved with securing scholarship funds.
- Assist accounting staff with cash receipts posting of funds from the NCSEAA to the general ledger.
- Complete withdrawal process for the Opportunity Scholarship recipients who are withdrawing or transferring from campus to campus.
- Provide support to school leaders and parents who need assistance with NC Opportunity Scholarship.
- Provide support to the accounting department with cash receipts and accounts payable
Personal Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Very close attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- At least 1-2 years accounting related experience
- Experience with Apple/Mac and Google Drive and comfortable learning new technology
Salary: Salaries are determined by experience and qualifications.
