Job Location : Great River, NY
Title : Scientist (Active Secret Clearance or higher)
Position Summary : Responsible for the design, development, documentation, and test of computer software applications that model ocean physics with an emphasis on underwater sound propagation. Interfaces with cross functional teams to develop algorithms and software solutions for high performance and high-fidelity ocean response in a multinode client-server architecture. We are looking for someone familiar with the physics and mathematics of wave propagation (acoustic and / or electromagnetic) and with engineering applications of wave propagation such as sonar, radar and / or communication systems. The focus of your work will be to develop algorithms that are computationally efficient and provide accurate estimates of signal propagation parameters such as time delay and transmission loss. Experience with numerical simulation of differential equations is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities : The Scientist is responsible for performing tasks as directed which include the following but is not limited to these tasks :
- Develop or modify software application designs based on customer specifications and user requirements
- Maintain and support existing software baselines and system services
- Implement, integrate, and document software systems, subsystems, and services
- Support software testing, installation, and integration activities
- Demonstrate ability to complete a technical project independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with engineering, program management and the customer as required

The annual base salary range of this position is $81,800.00 - $105,000.00
The salary range and / or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement for a new hire, promotion, or job transfer, and may be modified in the future. Actual base salary may vary depending on a variety of factors including relevant experience, education, specialized / key skills, certifications, departmental budgets, market demands, geographic location, and other relevant, job-related factors.
