McKesson is seeking an experienced Director of Payroll Operations to oversee and manage the Executive Compensation and US Payroll functions of our organization. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while enhancing operational efficiency and employee satisfaction. The ideal candidate will use their expertise in payroll management and data-driven decision-making to support operational excellence and strategic alignment with McKesson's goals.
Key Responsibilities :
Operational Excellence :
Lead payroll processing for a diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure accurate payroll integrations such as timekeeping and benefits.
Provide oversight on annual MIP bonus processing, and Restricted Stock vesting’s, ensuring MIP bonuses are processed accurately including verification of deferred compensation.
Strategic Leadership :
Drive initiatives aimed at refining payroll processes to boost system accuracy and efficiency.
Monitor payroll KPIs and metrics, utilizing data insights to inform decisions.
Mentor and develop a high-performing payroll team.
Provide guidance on complex payroll issues, serving as a subject matter expert.
Compliance & Risk Management :
Manage highly confidential payroll information in accordance with policy to protect operations and employee confidence.
Ensure adherence to payroll policies, labor laws, and tax requirements.
Collaborate with auditors to ensure the team provides necessary documentation and helps resolve any audit findings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Work with HR, IT, External Audit, and Finance teams to support organizational initiatives.
Education Requirements :
4-year Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Formal Experience Requirements :
Thorough knowledge of payroll policies, practices, and systems.
5 years progressive experience in processing executive payroll and Ex-Pats required.
10 years of payroll experience in a heavy and fast-paced environment required with 5 years of managerial experience (Manager or Supervisor).
Shared Service Center experience preferred.
Working knowledge of Workday Payroll is required.
Skills and Abilities :
Expert communication skills to navigate and coach employees / colleagues at all levels on complex, time-sensitive, and highly confidential payroll issues requiring consistent ethics and professionalism.
Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems using independent judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or law.
Must possess demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work with competing demands while focusing on accuracy and attention to detail.
