Graphic Designer
Thames & Kosmos is looking for a talented, inspired, full-time graphic designer to join our in-house design team. As a graphic designer, you will help us create and market awesome educational toys and games for kids and families. You will be responsible for a wide variety of product- and marketing-related design tasks, including package designs and visual marketing materials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and layout of retail packaging for our products, including structure, and graphics
- Researching packaging trends and determining marketing requirements to inform the design process
- Create beautiful and exciting sets of marketing images to promote our products on all our sales channels
- Collaborate with our sales and marketing teams to create engaging and exciting social media content to drive sales and raise brand awareness
- Photography and creation of beautiful product images for packaging and other applications
- Design of marketing materials such as print ads, sell sheets, presentation decks, promotional items, and catalogs
- Design of signage, displays, and other merchandising materials for retail stores and tradeshows
- Create product renderings from engineering CAD drawings (3D texturing, lighting, and scene composition) for packaging and other applications
Secondary Responsibilities
- Illustration for product packaging, manuals, and marketing materials
- Creating physical prototypes and packaging mockups
- Updates to the company website, both updating/editing copy and creation/management of images
- Contributing to product design and branding efforts
- Assistance with the creation of product videos
Design Skills and Experience
- Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 5 or more years of graphic design experience in toys or other children's consumer products/media
- Exceptional Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Acrobat skills
- Strong digital photography, lighting, and image retouching skills
- The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following special skills and experience:
- Strong visual design skills, including understanding composition, organization of information, hierarchy, use of type, and color theory
- Refined sense of design, a keen eye, and attention to detail
- Ability to critique your own work and others’ work, and absorb and apply feedback
- Ability to do competitive research and analysis of other products, packages, and designs in the market to inform design work
- Ability to identify the key features of a product and create a series of images to tell the product’s story.
- Ability to creatively use available graphic assets to create new and more useful imagery.
- Ability to understand, work with, and adhere to style guides, as well as develop new style guides.
- Physical crafting skills to cut and build packaging mockups and prototypes
- Experience with pre-press, file preparation, and sending of art files to printers
- Experience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify
- 3D rendering and CAD skills

- Experience with Mac OS, Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Monday.com

Compensation
- This full-time, in-house position is located in Providence, RI. Some remote work days are possible, but the work will primarily be in the office.
- Annual salary range: $60,000-$70,000
