Payroll Specialist
A well-established CPA firm is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its team locally. This role focuses on auditing union payrolls to ensure compliance, verifying 401(k) deductions and distributions, and reviewing payroll records. While auditing experience is preferred, candidates with bookkeeping backgrounds will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit union payrolls to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Review 401(k) contributions to confirm correct deductions and distributions
- Ensure payroll data aligns with IRS and state reporting requirements
- Interpret and apply terms of various Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Maintain detailed and organized audit workpapers
- Prepare reports and present findings in payroll audit team meetings
Qualifications:
- 2 years of auditing or bookkeeping experience
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and VPN portals
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of payroll reporting and compliance standards
