About the Job
Thatcher is looking for the right intern candidate with a high motivation and ambitious drive to join our team as a Mechanical Engineering – Intern at our Salt Lake City site. This opening is for a 4-month summer term with the possibility of part time through the school year.
Thatcher’s Salt Lake City site manufactures, packages and distributes a large variety of chemicals to support many industries including water treatment, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, food and dairy and pharmaceuticals.
What You Will Do
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for plant operations. (Troubleshooting, problem solving, coordination, etc.)
- Perform engineering functions as determined by your experience, and ability to learn and work with people in various manufacturing processes.
- Ability to sketch Isometric drawings, piping, tank, valving, and Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Collect data from rotating equipment for analysis.
- Other opportunities to self-identify work are available depending on students interests and capabilities.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university Mechanical Engineering program.
- Able to work within a chemical manufacturing environment
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in or knowledge of chemical manufacturing/refining solutions.
- Hands-on mechanical interests and aptitude.
- Experience with CAD.
- Understanding of Predictive Maintenance Technologies
