What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Locator/Operator position at Thayer Infrastructure Services (TIS) and its affiliated companies?
Founded in 1980, Lecom Utility Contractors has grown to become one of Michigan’s premier power line and communication contractors. Lecom is a multi-million-dollar company that performs a range of contracting and installation services for energy and communication providers.
We are looking for an Underground Locator/Operator to join our growing team. This individual will be required to adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work. Responsibilities:
Lead Directional Bore crew and assist training new hires
Read and interpret blueprints and permits
Adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and permitting pertaining to each jobsite
Locate the bore path for the Drilling equipment
Preform daily maintenance on all jobsite equipment and vehicles
Ensure proper bore rig set-up, & fluid mixing
Able to properly attach product to be pulled in
Able to accurately operate DCI tracking systems
Able to locate and pothole necessary utility lines
Demonstrate good judgment in the field
Perform all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience locating drill string and running crew
Clean Insurable driving record
Class A CDL preferred / chauffer’s license or CDL permit required before starting. Must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire.
Must be willing to work overtime
Must be team oriented and display leadership skills
Exceptional knowledge of horizontal directional drills
Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety.
Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
