Based in our Pembroke, MA location, you will identify and implement solutions to meet design requirements and quality expectations for our weighing and process control technology products in markets ranging from food production to bulk material handling. This critical role works across multiple functions to ensure product designs meet the targets for quality, cost, and cycle time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAct as the lead subject matter expert for electrical controls on production projects andsales opportunities.
Produce project documentation, engineering reports, including test and design verification reports,test procedures, design specifications, verification reports, technical and user manual s .
Coordinate with customers to meet industrial electrical safety standards and codes, such as NEC, UL508A, UL 698A, Factory Mutual, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), IEEE, Hazardous Location
Ratings such as Class 2 Div 1 or ATEX.
Monitor and evaluate evolving electrical standards in the process control, industrial automationindustries.
Enjoy supporting team members in a dynamic, independent, and fluid environment to completemultiple projects on time and under budget.
Have an open communication style to share information across functions.Troubleshoot electrical issues on equipment with hands on problem solving and circuit testing ofdevices and instrumentation.
Coordinate with the Mechanical Engineering team to process, design, and layout electrical controlsegments of customer orders according to project.
Provide complete documentation from bills of materials, schematics, harness wiring diagrams andmanuals for custom engineered solutions and standard products.
Maintain BOMs, part numbers, ECOs, and drawings within an Infor Visual ERP system.Utilize standardized engineering practices for existing process control instruments and drivepackages, and develop new practices as needed.
Become proficient at programming all the current generation process control instrumentation,including motor drive systems and commonly used electronic industrial controls such as process
controllers, counters, recorders, etc.
Work with the production teams to create and perform electrical inspections and test procedures oninstrumentation, electrical panels and equipment.
Provide electrical support to the sales, service, and production teams.Support the sales and service teams, and direct customers with communication support for wiringand fieldbus communication questions.
Review quality, equipment specifications, and final test data before authorizing shipment.REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWhen required, provide assistance to other company staff in completion of their daily duties.Respond to emergency situations.Other company related duties as assigned.All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules outlined by the Thayer Scale HandbookEDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :BSEE, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited program.Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent Required.Experience with EDA design tools, simulation, test automation desired6 to 8 years of applicable experience designing industrial controls and instrumentation.UL508A MTR Certification a plus.Demonstrated past history of project management.This position requires technical expertise, leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and the initiative to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.An understanding of electrical, electronic, and system engineering product design standards and applications for different countries. i.e., CE, CSA, etc.A strong understanding and application experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and structured programming including different fieldbus. i.e., Profibus, Profinet, OPC, Industrial Ethernet, Modbus etc.Strong time management skills with an ability to manage several tasks and achieve deadlines in a timely manner.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS :Strong customer orientation, problem solving and decision-making abilities.Demonstrated sense of urgency for customer support and follow up.Demonstrated contract negotiation, preferably in a technical capacity.Intermediate computer skills, including but not limited to CRM, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook PhotoShop, AutoCad or Solidworks a plus.Strong attention to detail.COMPETENCIESEmployee competencies are : Job Knowledge, Teamwork, Customer Service, Flexibility and Work Ethic.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge :
