In our bustling Persistent Surveillance Systems department, were on a mission to monitor and pinpoint passive acoustic contacts around the clock. From biological wonders to manmade marvels, were dedicated to delivering precise and timely contact reports. Plus, we handle all our piloting in-house for a fleet of unmanned vehicles carrying our top-notch acoustic payloads.
Position Summary:
As our Engineering Technician 2, youll be the backbone supporting our deployment and engineering teams. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into building, testing, and deploying/recovering our cutting-edge TM systems. This is aFull Time, in person role in Groton, CTreporting to the Deputy Director, Engineering Persistent Surveillance System.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test payloads for PSS systems
- Build electrical and mechanical assemblies for auxiliary components
- Test equipment operation with various software and electronic tools
- Troubleshoot broken equipment; mechanically and electrically
- Perform maintenance on Unmanned Surface Vessels
- Repair fiberglass damage
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- 4 8 years experience, or 2 year technical degree and 2 years experience
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with hand tools
- Fiberglass Experience
- Safety first mentality
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
- Comfortable working in both independent and team settings
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in soldering and splicing cables
- Experience with preventative maintenance cycles on complex mechanical systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work overtime and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Ready to work in various outdoor conditions
- Some sea trips may be required (0 10%)
- International travel may also be required
