Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Agent Intern for the Summer of 2025. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with both project based and manufacturing based production teams to help shape the future of maritime technology. You’ll be working in a fast paced, timeline sensitive, and tight-knit company where your contributions will have a direct and meaningful impact on our products and services.
As a key member of our team, you’ll contribute to our Purchase Order process and flow to execute agreements, negotiate terms and conditions, and work with numerous departments to finalize purchases and keep ThayerMahan going!
Roles/Responsibilities:
- This role reports directly to the Procurement Manager, but regularly collaborates with other teams within Procurement and ThayerMahan.
- Prepares and routes Purchase Orders and Professional Service Agreements for both internal review as well as external signatures.
- Provide continuous PO support while managing 10 PO requisition forms.
- Regularly engage in direct communications with the AP/Finance/Project teams on document statuses, project code questions, and quote information.
- Participate in short- and long-term planning and budgetary development to support strategic business goals.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with Seller and efficiently and effectively communicate these with the General Counsel team.
- Implement process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage internal documentation to maintain visibility and communication within departments.
- Manages documentation control and ensures all required seller documents are in ThayerMahan systems.
- Assist in engaging vendors for quotes and estimates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager
- Represent the core values and image and adhere to the internal policies and standards of ThayerMahan
Requirements
- Currently studying towards one of the following degrees: Supply Chain Management, Business, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.
- Detail oriented and organizational skills highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills necessary.
Preferred Experience, Skills:
- Government subcontracts with knowledge of FARS and DFARS.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Incoterms.
- Knowledge of the Maritime Industry.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- On-site in Groton, CT Headquarters
- Due to our contracts with the US Government, US Citizenship is a requirement.
