We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Set Designer to join our dynamic production team. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with directors and production teams to conceptualize and design sets that align with the vision of the project.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand spatial requirements and design specifications.
- Fabricate set pieces using various materials, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
- Build structures and rigging as needed, utilizing carpentry skills and hand tools effectively.
- Paint and finish set designs, incorporating visual arts techniques to achieve desired effects.
- Sew fabrics for set decorations or costumes as required, demonstrating versatility in design execution.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of sets during rehearsals and performances.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in production design or set construction, preferably within theater or film environments.
- Strong skills in blueprint reading and the ability to translate designs into physical structures.
- Proficiency in carpentry, rigging, and the use of hand tools is essential.
- Familiarity with visual arts painting techniques to enhance set aesthetics is preferred.
- Ability to sew or willingness to learn sewing techniques for fabric-related tasks is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of design work.
