JOB SUMMARY: As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at an all service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Geneva Lake. BASIC FUNCTION: The Host/ess will greet guests entering the restaurant and seat them in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/equivalent preferred or currently enrolled in High School and able to work.
Good food and service knowledge.
Pleasant personality.
Excellent communication skills.
Command of the English language
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Seat all guests in a timely and courteous fashion. Clear extra settings if not needed. Present menu to each guest.
- Answer telephone and take reservations using professional language.
- Volunteer Resort information to guests. Must be knowledgeable about other restaurants, shops and locations on property and about current/upcoming events.
- Keep work area/podium clean and organized. Menus should be wiped down at the end of each shift and replaced if wrinkled or soiled.
- Communicate with kitchen and staff to ensure steady flow of dining guests.
- Maintain waiting list of guests. Know what tables are available, who is covering each section and how to seat guests alternately in each section.
- Utilize OpenTable system to control flow of seating and server sections in restaurant
- Responsible for cash handling and bank procedures as outlined by the Accounting Department
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.
- As time allows, walk around restaurant and check on guests. Refill water, push in stools, wipe down high tops, while always keeping an eye on podium.
ENVIRONMENT: Indoor fast paced environment with vinyl and carpeted surfaces. Outdoors with cement surfaces and exposure to outdoor climates and elements. Loud noise levels.
