Career Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and experienced math tutor to join our school community, specializing in 9th, 10th and 11th grade. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and the ability to facilitate our established curriculum. They should be capable of guiding students through foundational to advanced topics, with an emphasis on problem-solving and discovery-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Create a supportive and structured class enviroment conducive to learning, with clear expectations.
- Follow the established weekly math rhythm and curriculum.
- Offer consistent guidence to students in helping them develop their mathmatical thinking capacities.
- Foster a sense of community and supportive peer relationships within the classroom.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues based on mutual respect and open communication.
- Assess student progress through observation, student work, and assessments. Provide timely feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and follow grading protocol.
- Communicate student and course progress to parents and administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathmatics or related field.
- Previous experience teaching high school mathmatics.
- Deep understanding of adolescent development and willingness to implement the principles of Waldorf education.
- An honest striving towards effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Desire to create a meaningful learning environment where students are challenged in a healthy way and can experience goodness, joy, and strength within themselves.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
- Willingness to be part of a culture that values professional growth and ongoing positive and constructive feedback.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to professionalism.
Schedule
- In person: Monday-Friday, 1-2 hours daily during the school year.
- Time off: 1 week for Fall Break, 2 weeks for Winter Break, 1 week for Spring Break, annually.
