What You Will Do:
As the State Pre-Kindergarten (SPK) Education Coordinator at The Academy for Little Children, you will join a family of educators dedicated to helping each child succeed. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Model, guide, train, and mentor teaching staff to promote professionalism.
- Step into the classroom both as an in-ratio teacher as well as occasionally as an out-of-ratio trainer in order to better train teachers in a variety of ways.
- Work in conjunction with the rest of the RIDE State Pre-Kindergarten team, working with the Lead Teachers and Teaching Assistants to ensure all regulations are followed, curriculum is implemented, etc.
- Help all teachers in areas of curriculum, assessment, family engagement, teacher-student interactions, and all other classroom aspects.
- Help orient teachers to the Academy and its philosophy on education and assessment.
- Assist teachers in understanding the program improvement plan and their role in supporting program-wide efforts.
- Check classroom lesson plans weekly & monthly, ensuring that all curriculum is age-appropriate and aligned with Creative Curriculum and RIELDS using the 9 Domains equally and effectively.
- Help create and implement a written plan for implementing the child assessment system.
- Engage and support staff through program change processes.
- Establish and maintain relationships of trust, respect, confidentiality, collaboration, and cooperation with colleagues and families.
- Regularly visit and observe classrooms, as well as conduct regular staff observations, assessments, and reviews.
- Maintain current knowledge of child development and share that knowledge with staff.

Per RIDE and DHS Regulations, the Applicant must meet the following in regards to experience and education.
- Holds a current appropriate RIDE early childhood certificate, OR
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field with 24 credits in early childhood education and a pathway to certification
- A minimum of two years of early childhood classroom teaching experience
- A RIELDS certificate relevant to this position
