Academy for Precision Learning is seeking an Interim High School Principal to support staff and students during 2024-25 school. There will be the opportunity for this role to continue into an acting position after the interim period ends.
The Interim High School Principal reports to the Head of School and oversees faculty supervision, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluation, and professional development. This role collaborates closely with APL leadership, particularly in academic areas, partnering with the Clinic Director, Business Manager, and Lead BCBA. Additionally, the Interim High School Principal assumes responsibility for day-to-day high school operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Educational Leadership and Administrative Management:
- Collaborate with the Head of School and senior administrators to develop and implement policies that promote inclusivity, equity, and instructional excellence.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and professional development of faculty and staff.
- Supervise curriculum development, alignment, and articulation across the high school division, fostering innovation and differentiation.
- Lead faculty meetings, task forces, and professional development initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current on research, trends, and best practices in education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, strategies, and insights for supporting students.
- Mentor and coach faculty, providing guidance in meeting diverse student needs.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the high school division, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborate with administrative staff to address logistical and operational needs of the high school.
Student Development:
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
- Collaborate with the counselor, BCBAs, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive support services are delivered to students.
- Implement strategies to promote positive behavior management and social-emotional learning among students.
- Respond effectively to student crises and emergencies, ensuring the well-being of all members of the high school community.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders about academic programming, student progress, and school initiatives.
- Organize and facilitate school events that promote a sense of belonging among students, families, and staff.
Community Engagement:
- Cultivate positive relationships with parents, guardians, and families through effective communication and involvement opportunities.
- Promote family and community involvement in school decision-making processes, seeking feedback and input to improve educational outcomes.
- Coordinate outreach efforts to promote the school's mission, achievements, and programs through media relations, marketing, and public relations strategies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven leadership in education, fostering a positive school culture through effective management and guidance.
- Ability to supervise, evaluate, and support faculty for continuous improvement in teaching practices and outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Fingerprint clearance through OSPI
- A clean background check
- WA Teacher Certification required
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience, with demonstrated leadership and administrative experience preferred.
