This position is a full-time, licensed school counselor position. As a college preparatory school, ATC employs two full-time counselors for a grades 7-12 enrollment of approximately 400 students.
Responsibilities and Duties
- College and career readiness services to students in grades 7-12. Design and refine self-advocacy training for students. Provide direct programming to students regarding the college readiness and acceptance process. Support the planning and implementation of ATC’s "College Crew" student advisory program taught by faculty
- Wellness services to students in grades 7-12. ATC counselors collaborate closely with a diverse array of teams to develop and implement both prevention and intervention wellness programs for students and families, including but not limited to substance abuse, healthy relationships, and self-regulation skills
- Mental health services to students in grades 7-12. Provide crisis response services as needed. Short-term counseling and referrals for long-term support. Design and implement prevention and intervention group counseling as needed. Implementing assessments to discern mental health needs for students
- School operations. All faculty and staff assist in the orderly operation of the school and equitably apply and adhere to school policies/procedures. School counselors play a lead role in mediating and improving relationships between students, parents, and teachers
- Must possess or be able to obtain a New Mexico School Counseling license
- A Masters degree in school counseling, clinical counseling, social work, or equivalent is required
- Leading candidates will demonstrate an ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment to balance immediate needs and interruptions with programmatic and project work flows
- Leading candidates will demonstrate and model strong self-regulation and self-awareness skills
- Leading candidates will demonstrate proficiency in the social-emotional dimensions of working with educators, students, and families from diverse backgrounds. ATC understands that building effective relationships and rapport is the cornerstone to creating effective collaboration and shared responsibility for supporting all students’ personal, academic, social, and emotional growth in a rigorous environment that promotes intellectual risk for all students and staff
- Leading candidates will demonstrate proficiency in digital tools for guidance counseling and registrar functions, including but not limited to MS suite, Google suite, Scoir, and PowerSchool
