Kindergarten Aide Job Description
Job Classification: Non-Exempt
Job Type: Full-time
Reports to: Principal
The Academy is seeking a qualified kindergarten aide who will help provide instruction and support for students in our transitional kindergarten class. The kindergarten aide is integral to our transitional kindergarten program and we are looking for someone who sees themselves as an educator and who is committed to closing the opportunity gap, serving a diverse student population, and collaborating deeply with all members of our school community.
Essential Duties
- Supports students, individually or in groups, to assist with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to care for students, equipment, and materials
- Assist in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity
- Assist in providing small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to specific needs
- Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior during lunch/recess settings to ensure a safe and positive environment
- Attend staff meetings and professional developments as required
- Alert the teacher immediately to any injuries or special needs of individual students
- Check student work for compliance with teacher’s instructions
- Assist in implementing all classroom policies and reinforce the reward/discipline system
- Help maintain order in the classroom and monitor students to keep them on task
- Perform office assistant tasks such as photocopying, filing, and phone calls as required
- Supervise morning breakfast (7:45-8:10)
- Supervise recess and lunch times
- Perform other related duties as assigned/required by teacher(s) or site administrator(s)

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- Be punctual for work and avoid making appointments during scheduled work time
- Maintain professional relations and show patience with parents, teachers and other staff
- Maintain confidentiality about student behavior, classroom, or family life
- Supervise the classroom if the teacher is unexpectedly pulled away
- Follow established procedures and processes as found in the Family and Employee Handbooks
- Experience working in youth programs, school setting or non-profit
- Experience in working with high needs students a plus
- Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
Salary Range
- DOE
Time Commitment
- 11 months
- 7:45 am -3:45 pm Monday through Friday
Salary : $66,560
