ABOUT THE POSITION
The Overnight Manager provide leadership and support and directly supervises all hotel operations during the overnight shift, focusing on Front Office operations, housekeeping, cleaning, hotel safety and security. They anticipate needs, answer questions, fulfill requests, deal with complex guest issues, and liaise with all departments of the operation to deliver “moments of delight”.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Oversee all overnight employees and the nightly operations of the entire property. This includes but is not limited to front office, housekeeping, engineering, food & beverage, valet and security
- Ensure the safety and security of all guests, employees, and hotel assets overnight. This includes periodic full-property inspection walks throughout shift, securing access points, and observing nightly movements and activities
- Represent the General Manager and act as the Manager On Duty for the entire campus whenever they are on the floor including overseeing all emergency and crisis response activities
- Oversee and/or perform all end-of-day Night Audit functions and distribute nightly reports
- Be knowledgeable of all departing, in-house, and arriving guests and their status and process all early check-outs and Guest Service Associate responsibilities
- Direct all housekeeping and kitchen night cleaners to ensure the property is immaculately clean, neat and well-maintained at all times
- Coordinate with other departments for an immediate response to guest requests, concerns and complaints to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience
- Ensure that the grooming and decorum of all employees in the front of the house is in keeping with the company and brand standards
- Be fully knowledgeable of all activities, events, VIPs, meetings, functions in the hotel and anticipate guest needs based on them
- Be knowledgeable of local, regional and Northeast US attractions, events, dining, entertainment, recreation and transportation
- Think proactively and constantly implement new standards and services to optimize the guest experience
- Prepare special reports for and handle special projects for senior management
- Must be willing and able to perform any related or similar tasks assigned by their supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must possess the following experience, education and skills and/or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some comparable combination of knowledge and aptitudes
Experience
- At least two years of increasing responsibility in hotels or resorts required
- At least one year of experience as a Guest Service Associate, Concierge or the equivalent required
- Supervisory experience over at least 10 employees required
- Experience in a five-star hotel, resort, club or restaurant highly desirable
- A good knowledge of hotel, resort and restaurant standards, policies, and procedures essential
Education
- Two-year college degree required; Four-year degree preferred
- Specialized degrees or certifications in conciergerie or food & beverage desirable
