About the Opportunity:
As a Lead Direct Support Professional (LDSP) at The Adolphus Group, you will be the point person at
the community home, providing care-related and documentation-related assistance and expertise. You
will lead by example and ensure that the home is running smoothly and efficiently under the guidance of
the House Manager. You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals
with disabilities and help them achieve independence and quality of life.
Key Relationships: Residential Director, Program Specialist, Nurses, Human Resources, external
stakeholders such as day programs, community contacts, county personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility: Provide direct supervision to the Lead DSP and DSP positions at assigned
homes.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Act as a liaison between the House Manager, individuals, and Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff
on scheduled shifts.
- Provide expertise and direction to DSP staff on shift, mentoring them in the care of the individuals.
- Carry out monthly fire drills as required by ODP Chapter 6400 regulations.
- Assist the House Manager with various tasks such as obtaining, tracking, and filing receipts,
paperwork, documentation, transportation log, client funds, scheduling appointments, and reviewing
staff training.
- Assist individuals with household management, including shopping and supply inventory tracking and
reporting, weekly menu creation, meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
- Provide personal hygiene care, including bathing and toileting, to individuals who need assistance.
- Support individuals in developing self-help skills, social skills, and community integration through
coordination of weekly activity/outings schedule according to agency budget and individual interests.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with individuals, co-workers, families, and external
stakeholders.
- Implement individual support plans, medical plans, and behavior management programs, recording The Adolphus Group data as required.
- Maintain and track individual finances for all individuals served under the assigned residence.
- Complete all required training within established timelines.
- Identify and report concerning individual behavior to the House Manager, analyzing preceding conditions that may have contributed.
-Track and communicate all incident reports, medication error reports, or concerns discovered within the household.
- Inform the House Manager of potential changes to the individual support plan that could increase independence and quality of life.
- Perform daily checks of MAR log and report refusals/medication errors. Provide individual education on the importance of taking medication as required in the event of refusals.
- Ensure all agency policies and procedures are implemented and enforced. Report any necessary disciplinary action required to house manager for failure to follow procedures.
- Report issues and concerns on adaptive equipment, ensure it is in good working order and follow up on necessary items to be completed.
- Inspect wheelchair, feeding pumps, and feeding bags for cleanliness and proper operation
Skills and Experience:
- 1-3 years of direct care experience in the IDD or health-related field.
- Valid driver's license
- Clear criminal record, background checks, and FBI background if lived outside Pennsylvania within the previous two years.
- Ability to pass required training, including CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of positive approaches and commitment to community integration for people with disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally both independently and within a team.
- Respect for the rights and confidentiality of individuals.
- Ability to represent The Adolphus Group Services' mission and philosophy.
- Physical ability to stand, lift, reach, bend, kneel, and climb stairs.
- Ability to work in a typical home setting with moderate noise levels.
- Flexibility in work schedule to be able to cover all shifts, including overtime hours if required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Required Hours:
As Lead Direct Support Professional (LDSP), you are required to work 40 hours per week, including one full weekend shift per month or as needed (both Saturday and Sunday), and one overnight shift per week. This is a full-time onsite job, with schedule to be determined by House Manager.
