We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and a passion for working with individuals with unique needs.
**Responsibilities:**
- Provide daily living assistance, including personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping.
- Assist with medication management, including administering medications and monitoring side effects.
- Develop and maintain a rapport with individuals, encouraging independence and self-advocacy.
- Engage in recreational activities and hobbies with individuals, promoting socialization and community integration.
- Observe and document patient behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising healthcare professional.
- Monitor and report any medical issues or emergencies to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Assist with transportation to and from appointments, errands, and other activities.
- Provide home health care services, promoting patient independence and autonomy through the application of person-centered practices.
- Ensure that all patient care is delivered in accordance with established policies, procedures, individualized support plan, and regulations.
**Experience:**
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or other disabilities (recommended, but not required).
- Experience with patient care and patient observation.
- Certification in CPR or similar is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances is necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively interact with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
