The Operational Readiness and Assessment Engineer will support transformation of training, exercise, and readiness initiatives to build and refine exercises that directly contribute to the combat effectiveness of US Space Force operational units. The successful candidate will be able to provide experience-based technical expertise for the flowdown and development of strategy and plans for USSF readiness generating exercises and advanced training. The role includes systems engineering, analysis as well as assistance with operational analysis, exercise planning and execution, and connection to space operations. Expertise with engineering/technical analysis of capabilities and operational depth in USSF core functions or joint command and control will be extremely helpful. Work Model: This position is in Colorado Springs, CO What You’ll Be Doing STARCOM requires in depth technical knowledge to translate mission threads and readiness measures (Mission Essential Tasks, Operational Acceptance Criteria) into meaningful scenarios and campaign plans for exercises, test, and training of the space enterprise. STARCOM, as the Space Force’s lead field command for exercises, must create a flexible and comprehensive system of exercises that enable advanced training and collaboration across a broad range of scope and needs from tactical to strategic levels. In addition to exercise campaign plans, Aerospace will support development of requirements for infrastructure – with focus on integration of live and virtual capabilities to build warfighting confidence. Independently perform expert-level analysis; prepare general officer level reports and briefings. Interface with various technical team leaders daily to exchange information and coordinate related tasks. Develop documentation in government formats. What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or engineering discipline preferred Twelve or more years of dynamically responsible professional experience applicable to the position Demonstrated and exceptional interpersonal, teambuilding, strategic, leadership and communication skills Background or experience in planning and executing multiple level of service and combatant command exercise development and execution A strong technical background and experience in operations, systems engineering, or testing from a range of perspectives and domains Functional awareness/working knowledge of USSF warfighting capabilities, requirements, and operations Familiarity with space combat power, command and control, and battle management Familiarity with force generation and force employment processes and able to assist in standing up these processes inside of various USSF organizations Ability to influence outcomes with both strong verbal and written communications using objective facts, analysis, modeling & simulation, and testing results This position requires a current TS-SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance Ability to work in the office, this position is not compatible with telecommuting Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel domestically How You Can Stand Out Education and/or experience with Operations Research Experience working large, complex issues and the ability to break down problems into meaningful steps to accomplish with a team Experience planning for training that includes “thinking adversary” (e.g., Aggressors) emulating realistic threat systems Experience with Service or Joint Event Life Cycle planning Experience with data-based assessments, readiness, or lessons learned Deep technical experience with one or more specific USSF capability areas Experience with systems engineering in other (non-USSF) DoD/IC agencies and organizations Experience with operations of space systems Experience with command and control in a joint warfighting environment Current applicable SAP/SAR accesses Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, or other technical discipline. Familiarity with Department of the Air Force/National Security Space enterprise architecture Working knowledge of Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) skills and capabilities We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
