What We’re Looking For:
Our Mecklenburg County division named CriSyS provides experienced, compassionate crisis intervention, with a focus on keeping individuals and their families safe within their community. Serving as a hospital and jail diversion program, we work with community partners to offer dynamic, comprehensive, and tailored care that focuses on each person’s health rather than the difficulty itself.
In the role of Mobile Crisis Specialist, you will provide immediate crisis support in the areas of mental health, substance use, Intellectual and Developmental Disability and situational crises. Our skilled clinicians are trained to de-escalate the situation, assist in establishing a safe and stable crisis plan, and provide necessary connections to community resources. Mobile Crisis Specialists aid in resource identification and navigation to support long term recovery. You will work closely with first responders, community agencies, and stakeholders. CriSyS operates 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This position will work a shift from 2pm-10pm Tuesday-Saturday in office. This is NOT a remote position.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform a clinical evaluation assessing the client in a community-based setting assessing risk and environment.
- Effectively perform crisis intervention including de-escalation, crisis planning, and warm hand-offs to community service providers.
- Ability to maintain professional, calm, demeanor and objectivity in high-stress situations.
- Design appropriate referral recommendations using available community resources.
- Provide extended post-crisis follow-up support.
- Make decisions regarding the need for Involuntary Commitment and/or alternative psychiatric evaluation.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in alignment with governing and regulatory standards.
- Work with diverse populations including children, adults, dual-diagnosis, co-occurring, and individuals with an Intellectual and Developmental Disability.
- Community outreach and education.
- Abide by HIPAA and other regulations regarding health and personal information.
What We Require:
- Full or provisional licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LCAS etc.)
- Master's or bachelor's degree in a human service field with 1 year of experience in mental health
- Ability to work a shift from 2pm - 10pm Tuesday - Saturday
- Crisis Response experience is a plus.
- Spanish speaking is a plus
- Ability to adapt to technology and utilize mobile technology through various platforms.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a company or personal motor vehicle.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee may be required to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time and walk to wherever is necessary to perform assessment. As we operate a 365 day per year service, Mobile Crisis Specialists must be available for day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts, as scheduled. While every effort may be made to create a schedule that meets the individual staff person’s needs, the schedule is created first and foremost to meet the needs of the program. Driving/Travel: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive a company vehicle. The employee must possess a valid Driver’s License, proof of current automobile insurance and may not have more than two (2) points on their driving record.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. This is a fast-paced position with constant activity. The employee must be able to quickly escape from an emergency situation, which may include running, climbing, balancing or crawling. Must have adequate visual acuity to interact with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and accurately input data. Will need to move about up to 75% of work shift either on-site or in the community. Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of work shift. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
