The Commercial Lender is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial loans, including investment and owner-occupied real estate, construction loans, and small business loans. This role involves building strong relationships with clients, structuring and negotiating loan terms, and ensuring compliance with credit policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in commercial lending, exceptional sales skills, and a deep understanding of financial analysis and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and develop new commercial lending opportunities through prospecting, networking, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and referral sources.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring the profitability and quality of the loan book.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, including cash flow analysis, collateral evaluation, and risk assessment, to structure loan packages tailored to client needs.
- Prepare, present, and defend loan requests to the bank’s credit committee for approval.
- Prepare term sheets, commitment letters, and coordinate appraisals, environmental reviews, and legal documentation for seamless loan processing.
- Ensure timely closings by collaborating with legal teams, underwriters, and third-party vendors.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to address their financial needs, provide guidance, and identify opportunities to cross-sell other banking products and services.
- Monitor loan performance and manage adverse credits, including renewals, maturity extensions, and workout situations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, bank policies, and credit standards.
- Provide regular reporting on portfolio performance, loan pipeline, and market trends to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or a related banking role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lending products, financial analysis, and credit underwriting.
- Excellent sales and business development skills with a proven ability to achieve or exceed lending goals.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
- Proficiency in loan management systems (e.g., Salesforce, nCino) and financial software tools.
