Banquet Captain

Position Summary:

The Banquet Event Captain is responsible for overseeing and executing fine dining banquet events, ensuring impeccable service standards and a seamless experience for guests. This role involves managing event setups, supervising service staff, and ensuring that each detail aligns with the high standards of the venue. The Banquet Event Captain acts as the point of contact between the client and event team, ensuring the event runs smoothly from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Coordination & Setup:

• Lead the setup and execution of fine dining events, ensuring each detail reflects the client’s vision and the venue’s high standards.
• Coordinate with culinary, beverage, and event teams to ensure timely and flawless service delivery, from first courses to dessert.
• Conduct pre-event meetings with staff to review the event details, such as menu selections, service flow, and guest preferences.

Staff Supervision & Training:

• Oversee the service team, including banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff, ensuring they maintain a professional and polished appearance while upholding fine dining service protocols.
• Train banquet staff on fine dining etiquette, proper table service, wine pairing, and handling special guest requests.
• Provide on-the-spot guidance and support during events to ensure exceptional service, resolving any challenges promptly and effectively.

Client Interaction & Relationship Management:

• Serve as the main point of contact for clients and guests during events, ensuring personalized service and addressing any concerns or requests with the utmost attention and care.
• Ensure all details of the event, including food, beverage, and ambiance, are executed to the client’s satisfaction, adjusting where necessary to meet evolving needs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring they feel heard, valued, and cared for throughout the event.

Quality & Presentation Management:

• Ensure that each aspect of the event maintains the venue’s high standards of food quality, service presentation, and cleanliness.
• Ensure table settings, linens, glassware, and silverware are correctly arranged and meet the fine dining expectations.
• Monitor and supervise the timing of courses, ensuring that each dish is served at its peak and with the appropriate level of attention to detail.

Event Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure that all safety and health regulations are followed, particularly regarding food safety, alcohol service, and emergency protocols.
• Address and manage any health or safety concerns during the event promptly and in a professional manner.

Post-Event Duties:

• Oversee the breakdown and cleanup of the event, ensuring that all equipment and materials are returned to the appropriate locations.
• Review event performance with the team, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
• Handle any lost-and-found items with care and return them to clients as necessary.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree or certification in hospitality, culinary arts, or related fields is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in high-end banquet service, fine dining, or event coordination, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of fine dining etiquette, wine service, and formal table settings.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a focus on delivering a luxury guest experience.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adjust quickly to changing circumstances or guest needs.
• Flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs, including trays, equipment, and decor items.
• Ability to work in various conditions, including event spaces with high traffic or tight setups.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a high-end, fine dining environment that may include luxury banquet halls, private dining rooms, or outdoor event settings.
• Some work will be performed in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments where attention to detail is critical.
• Events may span from small intimate gatherings to large, multi-course banquets, often requiring flexibility and attention to guest satisfaction.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
