The Department – Alfred Cancer Program
The Alfred Cancer Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a comprehensive cancer service which involves a number of clinical areas and units including; Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Apheresis, State-wide Haemophilia Service, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and the Victorian Melanoma Service. Alfred Health delivers a comprehensive suite of services which involves a range of diagnostic services, surgical, radiation and oncology therapies and the recently introduced Integrative Oncology Unit and Wellness Centre for cancer patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and skilled Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with inpatients with oncology conditions. The role will provide high quality assessment and intervention to patients in Cancer Services and the Medical Specialities stream. The successful applicant for this Grade 2 Occupational Therapy position will apply their knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver excellent clinical service. Occupational Therapy service provision will primarily be in the areas of, oncology assessment and intervention, palliative care discharges, assessment of impact of comorbidities on occupational performance and early progression of care to promote pathways out of hospital and into community settings.
At a Grade 2 level, Occupational Therapists are required to display autonomy of practice, whilst also contributing collaboratively to the multi-disciplinary team. There will also be opportunities for Grade 2 clinicians to be involved in various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students.
At Alfred Health, the Occupational Therapy service delivers a seven-day model of care and the incumbent in this role may be required to assist with weekend service provision on a periodic basis.

Qualifications Required
- Occupational Therapy Qualification
- Current full registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) or equivalent.
- Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership) or equivalent.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License (unrestricted).
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy
- Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and eligibility for OTA membership
- Clinical experience and knowledge of client-centred, occupational service delivery
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery in accordance with evidence-based practice
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality rehabilitation
- Experience in supervision of junior staff is highly desirable
- Experience working with patients with oncology symptoms highly desirable
