What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Operator 2-Shipping Department position at The AMES Companies, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for operating a forklift, electric pallet jack, reach truck, other material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stocking and counting merchandise in accordance to production standards. All associates must be able to cross train in all core distribution functions including unloading, put away, picking, replenishing, loading, small parcel area, rework, returns, display building, and possess basic WMS skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform required Distribution Operator 2 duties and core distribution functions including partial picking, full picking, loading, unloading, replenishment and put away, also including hand unloading import containers and assisting with projects as assigned.
- Maintains PIT certifications
- Report quality and inventory variances to individual leads and/or supervisors
- Maintain the facilities, equipment, tools and materials in a neat, clean, orderly fashion, adhering to all sanitation practices
- Follows all AMES policies and procedures, best practices, and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned (including, but not limited to, training of others within job class, sanitation, down pallets clean-up, safety committee, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
- At least two of the three stand up forklift certifications (walkie rider, pacer and or reach truck)
- RF scanning device experience and/or training or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must pass and maintain industrial lift truck certifications
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) recommended
