Opportunity Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for the operational performance of the Distribution Center. This position is ultimately responsible for the planning, organizing, oversight, and controls of all DC inbound, outbound, transportation, customer service, field service, purchasing, facility maintenance, inventory and warehousing processes and activities on all shifts. The General Manager is accountable for achieving company and individual objectives regarding safety, cost control, productivity, customer service and quality in the building. The General Manager leads the management staff for operating departments at the Rochester, NY Distribution Center.
This position supervises the Operations Departments; Transportation, Warehouse, Customer Service, Field Service, Purchasing, Maintenance/Building and Facility.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:
- Mentoring and advising Operations Managers and Supervisors regarding operational and Strategic decision making. Providing Operations Managers and Supervisors with constructive feedback in a timely manner to provide learning and growth opportunities.
- Building and developing a management team, promoting professional growth, increased cross-departmental training and responsibilities, positioning the DC for sustained growth.
- Ensuring the execution of standardized procedures for operating and managing the Inbound and Outbound functions on all shifts.
- Fostering a work environment that maximizes employee involvement, morale, and engagement which builds positive workplace culture and encourages employee retention.
- Collaborating with the shared services managers to achieve adequate staffing within the approved operations plan.
- Planning, directing, and executing inbound, outbound, transportation, customer service, facility maintenance, inventory and warehousing operations to meet prescribed productivity and accuracy levels. Coordinating all activities and redirecting resources as required to maintain optimal workflow within the DC.
- Communicating with all levels of Management, keeping them updated on the status of operations, as needed.
- Leading and continuously developing the company safety programs designed to ensure the safety of all team members within the workplace.
- Pays constant attention to accident and incident investigations, provides feedback to the team on safety initiatives and drives and safety focused culture in all aspects of the business.
- Conducting regular operations meetings at the DC to assure shift objectives are being met, keeping Operations Managers and Supervisors informed of priorities.
- Coordinating work efforts between shifts and departments and maintaining an uninterrupted flow of work in the building.
- Assisting in budget development and meeting regularly with COO to ensure goals are met and to develop an overall competency of the financial management components at the DC.
- Implementing and monitoring appropriate team member performance appraisals to recommend promotions, wage increases, and accountability.
- Implementing and monitoring a series of approved labor standards to ensure an efficient and productive labor force. Responsible for recommending adjustments to standards where needed.
- Developing and modifying contingency plans to maintain operations, customer service levels and the safety and welfare of all Team members.
- Working on special projects as assigned by the Director of operations or COO.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Education – Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- Experience – Five or more years of management/leadership experience in various distribution functions (i.e. Transportation, Warehousing, Customer Service, etc.).
- Other Required Skills or Abilities – Knowledge of DOT rules and FMCSA guidelines, OSHA regulations, customer service, recruiting/interviewing/staffing, technical skills (including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point), engineered labor standards and systems, voice selection technology (Lucas), JD Edwards, managerial/leadership skills, developing and executing budgets and cost controls, safety management, process management, inventory control, analyzing information, equipment and facility maintenance.

Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
