What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client/Patient Care Assistant position at The Animal Hospital?
We are a progressive, full service, mixed animal practice in Phillipsburg, Ks. We pride ourselves in the services we offer and the excellent care our patients and clients receive. We are looking for a person who is self motivated, willing to learn, organized, efficient and a team player.
Job type: Full-time or part-time
Our hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm.
Pay: DOE
Education: High School or equivalent (Required)
Experience: None required but veterinary experience or experience with large animals preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing compassionate care to patients and clients.
Taking patient histories and assisting Dr. in the exam room.
Answering phones and checking clients out.
Filling prescriptions
Some grooming, nail trims, anal glands, basic bathing
Assisting/monitoring in surgical, dental, and medical procedures
Admitting and discharging patients
Monitoring hospitalized patients and administering medications as needed.
Placing catheters and performing blood draws.
Assisting with farm calls for large animal work.
Performs clinical laboratory procedures.
Departmental housekeeping duties, properly cleaning and stocking all areas of the hospital and vehicles.
Personal Requirements:
Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
Can stay calm and effective in a medical crisis.
Is able to work effectively and communicate well with others.
Physical Effort:
Work requires lifting and carrying animals, and will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 pounds. Walks or stands for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position. May be outside in the elements for short periods as needed.
