Position Summary

The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) seeks an experienced, energetic, and dependable self-starter to join the Hope and Redemption Team, which enhances and develops rehabilitative programming in several prisons across California to prepare incarcerated individuals for reentry. The ideal candidate will be someone with experience developing and facilitating Inmate Leisure Time Activity Groups (ILTAGs), who will bring initiative and integrity to his or her work.

Each Hope and Redemption Team Member will be responsible for supporting and implementing programming at one or more California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutions.

Team Members will support newly incarcerated people in the youthful Offender Program in developing rehabilitation plans as they enter the institution, and will work with Lifers on board preparedness, reentry planning, and accessing resources. Hope and Redemption Team Members will play a critical role in the organization, bringing hope and opportunity to incarcerated individuals, and preparing them for their continued relationship with ARC upon release.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with developing self-sustaining ILTAGs specifically targeted to inmates in the Youthful Offender Program (YOP).
  • Support and speak at existing Lifer ILTAGs.
  • Lead mentorship trainings for older inmates to serve as mentors to YOP’s.
  • Meet regularly with newly arrived YOPs to support them in developing rehabilitative plans.
  • Maintain case management notes.
  • Work with Lifers on board preparedness and insight into their commitment offense.
  • Conduct quarterly youthful offender parole and reentry workshops.
  • At the request of the institution, speak at staff trainings and participate in management meetings to assist, as needed, in improving institutional culture.
  • Provide and maintain appropriate data and files of participants.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect of cultural differences.
  • Travel to several institutions each week implement and support programming.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Counselor, Case Manager, and/or group facilitator. Experience with casefile maintenance, group documentation, and contract compliance essential.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience facilitating and creating ILTAGs and knowledge of self-help programs. Participation in Lifer programs preferred.
  • Driver’s License, personal vehicle
  • Knowledge of CDCR rules and regulations, and parole and probation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Data Base management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Bilingual beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel weekly and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Salary/Benefits

  • Pay rate is 26.44/per hour
