Laundry Aide

Job Summary

The Laundry Aide plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry services within our assisted living facility.

This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is responsible for washing, drying, folding, and delivering residents’ clothing and linens while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and organization. The ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle physical tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Laundry Operations
• Operate washing machines and dryers according to manufacturer instructions to ensure effective washing and drying of clothing and linens.
• Sort, wash, dry, and fold all laundry items, including personal resident clothing, facility linens, and other items as needed.
• Maintain a systematic approach to laundry processing, ensuring that all items are labeled and tracked accurately to prevent loss or misplacement.
• Label and organize clothing and linen items meticulously to ensure they are returned to the correct residents’ rooms.
• Inspect laundry items for stains, damage, or any items that require special attention; report any issues to the Laundry Supervisor.
• Ensure that all items are clean, dry, and properly folded before delivery.
• Follow all state regulatory mandates for the proper cleaning and handling of residents’ clothing as required by New York State regulations for assisted living facilities.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety measures in the laundry area to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Stay informed about and implement best practices for laundry services in accordance with state guidelines to ensure the well-being of residents.
• Conduct regular checks to maintain cleanliness and organization within the laundry area.
• Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding laundry needs and issues, ensuring a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Follow all facility protocols and policies regarding infection control and safety measures in the laundry area.
• Lift, carry, and transport laundry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand for extended periods while performing laundry tasks.
• Perform repetitive tasks associated with laundry processing.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree required
• Minimum of three years experience in a laundry aide or similar role, preferably within an assisted living or healthcare setting.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written, to effectively communicate with residents and staff.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality laundry services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
