What are the responsibilities and job description for the Competitive Integrated Employment ESS2 position at THE ARC BALTIMORE?
The Employment Support Specialist II works with adults with developmental and/or other disabilities in Baltimore City and Baltimore County to help them maintain competitive employment in integrated community workplaces while simultaneously working with their employers to ensure successful employment outcomes. Throughout their interactions, Employment Support Specialist II’s facilitate positive employment outcomes by providing encouragement and guidance that help people build the confidence to pursue their dreams and the competence to maintain employment.

Job Responsibilities

Provide individualized intensive ongoing job supports such as:
- Teaching new job skills through systematic instruction
- Modeling and training in interpersonal skills for the workplace
- Assisting with workplace onboarding and trainings
- Creating and implementing non-stigmatizing workplace accommodations and modifications
- Developing natural supports and travel training
- Provide required supports as documented in Person-Centered Plan
- Maintain positive relationships within the workplace
- Ensure health and safety needs of people supported are met on the job sites
- Educate on mobility and other public transportation options and help with coordinating transportation if needed
- Adhere to policies of the community-based employment sites
- Complete documentation daily to track person supported’ s progress and goals
- Support people to navigate and prepare for new employment opportunities in all aspects, both personal and job-related, to ensure successful job starts
- Use technology such as smartphones and laptops to communicate with people supported and other
- Maintain collaborative and professional relationships and communication with relevant team members (could include family/friends, people in other departments, other agencies or person's workplace) as designated by the person supported
- Assist people with career advancement opportunities within their organizations
- Complete all agency required trainings for position
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Must also have a valid driver’s license (not provisional) and meet the agency’s driving requirements
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to transport people supported in personal vehicle
- Travel throughout Baltimore City & County
- Must be independent and self-directed
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
Preferred:
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must always model professional behavior and appearance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Must work effectively within a team environment
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required to train and support individuals. This may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be available by use of a personal cell phone
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, and some lifting up to 50lbs
- Must have the flexibility to assist in other departments as needed
