We are thrilled to announce a rewarding position as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Community Living Department. Our Community Living Department focuses on creating inclusive and supportive residential environments where individuals can thrive and achieve their highest potential.
DSP RATE: $18.74/hour plus $2.00 per Hour Shift Differential for Weekend Shifts!
What does a DSP in Community Living do? You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life by working as part of a team in a small residential home setting. You will support residents with life skills and household tasks such as meal planning and preparation, laundry, and light housework; as well as assist with personal care, administer medications, and provide transportation as needed.
When you would work: We are interviewing DSP candidates to work in a wide variety of shifts throughout the week and weekends.
Current openings include:
- Weekend shifts - Saturday and Sunday shifts available
- Day shifts - morning to afternoon; afternoon to evening
- Overnight shifts - beginning at 11pm
Where you would work: A lovely residential home in Westminster, MD.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
- Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults)
- The ability to successfully pass a drug screening
- The ability to complete CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Technician, and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
- Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Hoyer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
Salary : $1,000 - $1,500
