Payroll Accountant
The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live, work, and connect with their community.
As the Payroll Accountant on our Corporate Finance team, you will support the administration of payroll for The Arc and our related entities. The Payroll Accountant will support and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for non-exempt and exempt employees, in an effective and accurate manner while providing outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Maintaining and updating employee data around wage rate changes, shifts, benefits elections, tax withholding elections, and other information is critical in this role. You will be responsible for the accurate and complete transfer of data to the payroll system of EVV (electronic visit verification) time for employees on a weekly basis, and regularly review time clock entries in cooperation with managers when there are questions around timekeeping approvals and corrections.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a diverse range of populations and personalities. You must have the ability to exercise good judgement in sensitive situations and work independently with great attention to detail while meeting reporting and processing deadlines.
The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 2 years managing payroll for 100 employees, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management is preferred and experience with Sage Intacct, BILL (formerly Bill.com), and Paycom is a plus.
